The harness meeting at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday night features heats of the Evicus Stakes for two-year-old fillies and a heats of the Dandy Patch Stakes for two-year-old colts and geldings.
Play Apple Tree resumed from a spell with an impressive win in Launceston last Sunday night where she broke in running soon after the start and tailed out to near last.
She made a long sustained run a lap from home and had the audacity to draw clear of her rivals at the business end of the race.
Smart filly Play Apple Tree would only need to stay in hear gear to win the first Evicus heat (race one) with place chances given to Gracie Grant, Iden Princess and Hesione.
The second heat should be a walk in the park for Betfair Sweepstakes winner Cloudy Delight that had a break after winning the Sweepstakes and returned with an impressive win in Launceston three weeks ago.
Cloudy Delight should have enough early speed to cross from gate five and find the front and if that eventuated she would be very hard to beat.
The first of two Dandy Patch heats (race 3) also boasts a small field and Betfair Sweepstakes colts and geldings winner Punt Road Disco should have the edge on his rivals.
Punt Road Disco was a last-start second to Tony Macarony in a 2YO in Hobart two weeks ago in which he was held up at a crucial stage and made ground late to finish a closing second.
His main dangers are Tony Macarony and Ponderosas Gamble that scored a very impressive win in Hobart last Sunday night, albeit against much weaker opposition.
The second Dandy Patch heat (race 9) boasts only a field of six but it is wide open with any one of five genuine winning chances including The Big Parade, Rustle Murray, Hesa Prospect and Cesta La Vie.
