Underrated greyhound Martello Towers (R6) looms as one of the best each-way bets on the card at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight.
The Gary Fahey-trained dog was a huge run last week to qualify for tonight’s Betfair Easter Cup final and while this son of Bombastic Shiraz will need to have luck go his way to beat the in form Nicholas Jack, Fahey’s charge has what it takes to emerge triumphant.
Nicholas Jack, prepared by Ted Medhurst, ran a terrific 25.94 last week and while Martello Towers has never recorded that in any of his five wins on the Hobart circuit, he has a big heart and should be good value each way in a tough race.
Nicholas Jack is looking for four wins in a row and must be taken in the exotics while Tiza Gold will run his usual honest race for trifectas.
The Easter Purse Final (R3) looks difficult to sort out. Hypo Holly for Leon Brazendale courtesy of the rails may be value at prepost $7.
This daughter of Path to Power was beaten a nose last week by Boo Icy You but can turn the tables tonight.
Her main opposition will be Lecture from the Medhurst kennel, while Arnhem Cash and Mighty Serious look next best.
The Easter Plate Final (R8) looks a battle between prepost favourite Nooee’s Lad and the Ackerly pair Hifive Marsha and Smiley on Fire which should both start at good odds.
Best Bets: R1 No 7 Stylish Abbey, R2 No 8 Fiery Dancer, R4 No 6 Lord Monty.
Best E/W: R6 No 5 MartelloTowers, R7 No 7 Amazing Albert and R11 No 10 Kula Girl.
