In Brief
- Page confident his trio will perform well.
- Trainer rates Victoria’s Kara his best.
- 10-race card commences at 19:43.
Westbury trainer Sam Page will take three runners to Launceston on Monday night, and all three have strong winning claims.
The trainer rates Victoria’s Kara, a Launceston winner two starts ago as his best winning chance in race six where she has come up with box two in the Invitation event.
Victoria’s Kara has won 12 of her 42 starts, with a further 18 placings to her credit, she was checked at her most recent start on 7 December.
“They went like lightning last start and she got dragged going into the first corner, she did have a bit of luck, but she will need to go a bit better this week to get clear around them,” said her trainer Sam Page.
The Banjo Boy – Golden Show Girl bitch recorded a personal best over the 278 metres two starts ago when scoring from box four in 16.13s.
“I think she is a really good place chance and she is ideally drawn over the 278, but it is a tough field and because of the box I say she is the best chance I have tonight,” explained the trainer.
Forners Road kicks off the trio of the Page kennel on Monday in race two where the former New South Wales greyhound has come up with box two.
The Oaks Road – Flame Bale dog hasn’t been seen since finishing sixth at his Tasmanian debut in Devonport on 13 October.
“He done a monkey muscle last start, I did expect him to finish the race off better, but he did come out of it with an injury. I think he is pretty well right to go, but that is why I have brought him back over the short distance,” said the owner-trainer.
“I think box six over 278 (metres) is the hardest box in the state, he is not ideally drawn and the distance is probably not perfect for him, but I think he is one of the better dogs in the race and has a good place chance,” added Page.
The last runner for Page is Lenard’s Boy in the Surepick Masters which rounds out the night’s quaddie where he and a number of his rivals will have to “Buckle Up” against short price favourite It’s Fletch.
“The old boy has had a bit of a weird preparation and he is ready to go for this, I am trying to get him up for a 461 in Hobart in the next couple of weeks,” said Page.
“It is a very even masters race, and he is as good as any of them but It’s Fletch will probably be $1.50, and he deserves to be,” explained the trainer.
Monday night’s 10-race card commences at 19:43.
