Tasracing

Greyhound racing heads to the North-West of the state on Tuesday where 10 races will be run and won. It follows an 11-race card which was held on Good Friday where plenty were in attendance for Family Fun Day.

Full fields are dominated by leading trainers Anthony Bullock and Gary Johnson who are represented in nine of 10 races respectively.

In the first race of the day Sassy Galaxy makes her Devonport debut after winning both of her starts in the state since arriving from Victoria for trainer Paul Hili. She was impressive over the 278m in Launceston and has won over 400m in Warragul. If she handles the step up in distance, we may see her back to compete in the Great Northern Super Crisp Country Oaks heats here next month.

The Oaks and Derby heats are for greyhounds whelped on or after the 1^st of December 2018.

Wizz Kev won his first race for new trainer Butch Deverell in Launceston last week and backed that up with a terrific win over the 580m in Devonport on Friday. He goes around in race seven, a grade three event which is the highest graded race on the program. He is eligible for the Derby series next month so expect him to be included in the nominations along with several of his accomplished littermates.

The penultimate race on the card sees Classic Valley open as favourite for Gayelene Townsend. He ran a great second from a similar draw at his last start on the track and competed in Free-for-all races in Hobart at his past two races. He led a quality field at one of those starts from a difficult draw and appears well placed in grade five class despite the wide draw which he will exit for the first time in his career.
