THE FAMILY GUY took a while to come to hand for his trainer-breeder Brent Parish but the gelding but he has blossomed this preparation winning three of his past four starts.

His latest win arrived in a C1 over 2090 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight when he enjoyed the one-out-one-back trail to the home turn and then gunned down the well-backed Aim Aloof in the last few strides.

With in-form claiming novice driver Troy Hillier aboard, the gelding toughed it out at the business end of the race to hit the line a half-neck clear of Aim Aloof with Aninchofhislife a distant third in advance of Scruffy Jake that came from last at the bell to make up the first four.

The Family Guy has won five and been placed four times from a dozen starts this season and has come of age in recent times.

Parish has always had a good opinion of the gelding but admits he may have pushed him to hard as a two-year-old which resulted in some below average performances.
