SPREYTON trainer Leanne Gaffney has had some handy horses over the years but her latest stable star could be the best.
Difrent, a four-year-old by Reset, made it three wins from his only five starts when he demolished a strong class two field over 1220 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston.
It was the gelding’s first start on turf, with all of his previous outings on the synthetic surface at Devonport.
In-form jockey Kim Moore made full use of a good barrier (5) and urged the gelding forward where he eventually found the lead.
When Moore called on Difrent to extend in the home straight he forged clear and had no trouble staving off a late challenge from smart mare Encosta De Legend with Just A Beach producing a much improved effort to finish third.
