THE upcoming quality handicap at the TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on November 6 is expected to draw another top class field.

The race over 1100 metres under lights is a non-claiming race for apprentices with a ceiling top weight of 60 kg and a minimum of 54 kg.

There was some confusion within the rank and file about whether apprentices would be able to claim in the race but as a quality handicap local rule 13.7 applies in that any race deemed a quality handicap will not allow apprentices to claim.

Many of the sprinters that contested the Goodwood Handicap in Hobart last Sunday week and won by star mare Rebel Bride will contest the race in Launceston as a lead-up to the $90,000 Newmarket Handicap to be run over 1200 metres under lights in Launceston on November 20.
