WELL bred three-year-old filly Refuse To Lose (Refuse To Bend-facing Danger x El Moxie) made a bold statement when she scored an emphatic win on debut at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
The filly, owned by Mike Hurst in Victoria, lined up in the opening event on the seven-race card the Merry Christmas 3YO Maiden Plate over 1000 metres.
Refuse To Lose (backed in from $6.50 to $4.40) enjoyed a cozy run behind the leaders to the home turn and when rider David Pires asked the filly to extend she quickly put the end result beyond doubt.
The Tammy Mollross-trained filly went into the race on the back of an impressive trial win inHobartand showed that day she was a ready made galloper.
Refuse To Lose went on to score by over two lengths from Maggie’s Pal with the well-backed Our Monashee a close-up third and just in advance of Count The Stars.
Mollross believes the filly may develop into a stayer but in the meantime she will focus on sprint races.
