STAR Tasmania-born jokey Craig Newitt gave the connections of Hotham Street something to cheer about when he partnered the gelding to an impressive all-he-way win in a maiden over 1200 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.

Hotham Streetshowed his customary early speed and Newitt utilised the advantage by ensuring a solid pace was set from the outset.

He gave his charge a breather between the 700-500-metre marks but when he pressed the go button the gelding sped clear and went on to score by about a length from well-bred gelding Alarmist with the well-backed cerise Sauvage a closing third.

Hotham Street is trained by George Blacker but in his absence his son and fellow trainer Troy Blacker had this to say about Hotham Street =- click here.
