Hobart bookmaker Barry Heawood who is also a life member of the Hobart Greyhound Racing Club will sponsor the main race on tonight’s program the Hobart Thousand Prelude (R6).
Victorian Release the Heat trained by Lara’s David Geall has won four of his last five at Sandown, Geelong and the Meadows and from the red box should prove hard to beat.
With Rewind having a week’s rest it will be up to topliners Gatty Com, Galtee Again and Shanlyn Poh to fly the flag for Tassie.
Galtee Again has been trialling well and although this son of Meticulous is almost four if he gets a chance to lead he may make it interesting.
Costa (R4) is going well for Rokeby’s Ian Callinan and looks a real chance to make it back to back wins.
Pendle Beri (R5) looks a real chance of returning to the winner’s list.
This son of Mandagery Man has had five starts jumping from the blue for three wins and two placings and should get some room from box rise.
His main opposition will come from Distorted while Billy Pines might run into a place at odds. Interstate nominations for the Group One Hobart Thousand close today with a number of top interstate greyhounds already confirmed.
Best Bets: R1 No 7 Chosen Jewel R5 No 4 Pendle Beri, R9 No 5 Exo Energy.
Best E/W: R2 No 3 Megalith, R7 No 1 Tark’s Legend, R6 No 6 Galtee Again.
