UNDERRATED seven-year-old gelding Success Dostta will be aimed at the Group 3 $225,000 AAMI Hobart Cup following his impressive win in a Benchmark 78 race over 1620 metres in Launceston tonight (Wednesday).
Success Dostta settled midfield and when rider Anthony Darmanin attempted to get his charge to the outside he was shunted back onto the rail by the favourite Highland Lassie (Brendon McCoull).
But when the leader Geejayhaitch shifted off the rail Darmanin urged his charge through to take the run and the gelding finished the race off better than the rest.
Success Dostta is prepared by David and Scott Brunton and Scott was full of praise for the gallant gelding.
“This horse has done very well interstate and the win was no surprise even though we had two hers in he race that were short prices,” Brunton said.
“Dad (David) has made this horse his Hobart Cup project and Prevailing is mine,” he said.
Prevailing won the Launceston Cup last season while Success Dostta ran a game seventh in the Hobart Cup.
