TALENTED middle distance chaser Champagne Girl will be out to extend her winning form when she steps out in a heat of the The TOTE Racing Centre Middle Distance Championship series in Launceston tonight.

Champagne Girl, prepared at Brighton by Brendan Pursell, comes off a win over 580 metres at Devonport on Christmas Eve in which she defeated Pinto Pronto.

That followed a below par effort in Hobart over 599m when she missed the start from box four and was never in the hunt.

However, from box two tonight she only has to begin with them to be a chance to have the lead at the first turn and if that eventuates she should be too strong for her rivals.

She won at her previous outing in Launceston over 515 metres in late November and it was the same result at the start prior on the Launceston track.

The well bred bitch has won seven and been placed nine times from her 18 starts.

If there are any dangers to Champagne Girl the greatest opposition could come from Open Bar (1), Camdale Libby (3) and Part Time Pete (6).

Champagne Girl appears in the first of three heats (race 4) with the first two placeggeters and the two fastest thirds to progress to next week’s final.
