STAR Tasmanian mare Rebel Bride has been installed as favourite to win her third Group 3 Bow Mistress trophy in succession at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday.
Rebel Bride opened with Sportsbet.com at $3.00 before easing to $3.20 but late yesterday she was backed in to $2.80.
Rebel Bride has emerged triumphant in the past two weight-for -age classics for fillies and mares and her trainer Leon Wells says she Estes to be favourite.
“This mare has been there before and won twice and she goes into this edition as good as ever so of course she deserves to be favourite” Wells said.
“She won in Launceston 10 days ago and that has topped her off nicely for this race,” he said.
Rebel Bride will be ridden by Stephen Maskiell who was aboard when she won the weight-for-age tats bet.com stakes in Launceston last Wednesday week.
The start mare’s opposition on Sunday is similar to what she encountered last year.
Miss Stellabelle is a former tenant of the Gai Waterhouse stable with who she had 23 starts of which 21 were at Group or Listed level.
She is now in the care of Charlie Goggin and Luella Meaburn and Sportsbet.com has installed her as the $3 second elect.
The mare trialled in Hobart just under two weeks ago and looked good in winning the hit-out over 900 metres (Watch the trial via Tasracing’s video replays).
Miss Stellabell’s stablemate Snippetee Bee also has been well back from $12 into $7.
The Peter Moody-trainer Kneeling also has haas support at $4.40!and is the clear third favourite. She is having her third start this preparation but has been set specifically for this race.
Of the other locals Isibaeva has the credentials to win and California Wish is stepping up a few levels in grade but she has shown enormous potential and gets her chance to make a name for herself on the big stage.
