FORMER Victorian greyhound White Prado delivered on a promise he made at the trials recently to score an emphatic win in the Hobart Greyhound Racing Club’s Maiden Series over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last night.

White Prado was having only his second start for leading trainer Mick Stringer but improved enough on his first start in the state to score by over three lengths from Minnie Mogul with race favourite Despicable Matt about two lengths away third.

“When I first trialled this dog he did enough to suggest to me that he would just win when I first put him in a race but it didn’t pan out that way,” Stringer said.

“He ran second in his heat but I thought he would just win.”

“He seemed to run away from the dog alongside and he lost about four lengths but he did the job tonight so it might have been just one of those things on debut,” he said.

White Prado is owned in Victoria by Karen Leek who also owned and raced the mother Snip In Time that was trained by Stringer.

“I trained this dog’s mother and she had loads of ability but she had a few little quirks that probably prevented her from reaching her full potential,” he said.
