A COUPLE of pups from a well bred litter could battle it out for favouritism to win next week’s Easter Purse final for juveniles at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart.
Breaker’s Tip and Bruny Venture made their way into the final with excellent performances in their respective heats last night (Thursday).
Breaker’s Tip won his heat leading al the way while Bruny Venture was gunned down in the last few stride by Limbo Maid in their heat.
Breaker’s Tip and Bruny Venture are prepared at Mangalore by Gary Fahey and are from a litter by Mogambo from Dennes Point.
Both were making their debuts wearing the yellow vest.
Breaker’s Tip began brilliantly and had no trouble finding the lead and once on the lure he sped clear and hit the line well clear of Buckle Up Axel and Valdes.
Limbo Maid (Lonesome Cry-Skates) did a great job to run down Bruny Venture that led after flying the lids from box five.
The Brendan Pursell-trained dog began fairly from box seven but had the leader in his sights throughout.
The leader looked set to win on debut but Limbo Maid dug deep when it counted and slipped through along the rails to grab victory in the shadows of the post.
