TALENTED three-year-old Hellova Street faces the toughest test of his career when he steps out against some very smart sprinter-milers in the Newstead Hotel Benchmark 78 Handicap (race 6) over 1600 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight.

Hellova Street has been impressive in winning at two of his only three starts this preparation withy the latest over 1400 metres in a strong class two handicap in Hobart just over three weeks ago.

He began his campaign with an awesome win in the $50,000 3YO Classic at Mowbray on Launceston Cup day (February 26) and he followed up with a game second to Miss Elsa at the same venue over 1220m in a class two on March 12.

The David and Scott Brunton-trained gelding has impressed ever since he began racing and his record of three wins and four minor placings from only seven starts is testament to his ability.

Scott Brunton said he was keen to get the gelding over 1600 metres, a distance that he believes will be ideal for the gelded son of Helike.

The Adam Trinder-trained Second Dozen is top weight with 62kg but that will be reduced to 59kg courtesy of a claim for stable apprentice Millie Whitehouse-Summers.

Last season’s Tasmanian Derby winner Ollie’s Gold has returned to form recently with minor placings in unsuitable races but he should be very competitive over the 1600 metres, especially carrying only 53 kg courtesy of a claim for Melissa Nicholls.

Prince Obama has produced better efforts at his past two and looms as an each-way chance along with the John Blacker-trained Smoke ‘N’ Whisky that was an impressive last-start winner on the track over this distance.
