DANISH ROCK made it three wins from four starts for his new trainer Leon Wells when he led most of the way to take out a BM62 Handicap over 1350 metres at Spreyton on Wednesday.

Danish Rock had only reasonable form when he landed in Wells’ stabled from Victoria about four months ago.

Stable apprentice Rasit Yetimova has partnered the gelding to all of his wins with yesterday’s triumph arguably the gelding’s best since crossing Bass Strait.

“The horse is flying,” Wells said.

“He’s not very big but he’s strong and he can accelerate quickly for 200 metres, which is his biggest asset.”

Danish Rock began his racing career in Melbourne with Caulfield-based trainer Mick Price.

“Apparently he was a real handful as a young horse and had to be gelded,” Wells said.

“He was sent to another trainer Shae Eden so he could be trained at the beach but his form didn’t improve.”

“So his owners, who live in New Zealand, sent him to Tassie to see what he could do here and they are no doubt very happy with the move,” he said.
