Bettor’s Delight, Courage Under Fire and Live Or Die, three of the leading sires in Australia and New Zealand last season, are all represented by stock in the 2013 Tasmania Premier Harness Yearling Sale.
The sale, which is the first of this season’s round of yearling sales, will be conducted by Davidson Cameron & Co Dubbo Pty Ltd and Tasracing on Saturday, January 5 at the Inveresk Showground, Launceston.
Eighteen different stallions have progeny in the sale.
Bettor’s Delight, the premier sire on both sides of the Tasman in 2011/12, has two entries, both out of NZ bred mares. Lot 5 is a gelding from the family of the dual NZ Cup winner Just An Excuse, while Lot 21 is a half-sister to the Tasmanian classics winner Bonny Lena.
Courage Under Fire has only one nomination, a filly out of the Tasmanian Oaks winner Cosmic Ice. The half-sister to two Sires Stakes champions will be one of the most keenly sought lots at the auction.
Meanwhile, Live Or Die, the multi premiership-winning sire, has three colts nominated including a son of the Vicbred semi-final winner Pandora’s Reign.
JR Mint, the $500,000 Hoosier Cup, has the biggest draft with 10.
The Little Brown Jug winner Shadow Play (3 lots) will be represented by his first crop at the yearling sale, while former 2YO of the Year Major In Art (4 lots), Tiz A Masterpiece (2) and Kenneth J will have representatives of their second crops.
