ROHAN HILLIER has earned a reputation as a master horseman and some suggest he can even turn a horse’s form around just by looking at it.
At Carrick Paceway last Saturday Hillier drove Chassys Best to victory in a C1 over 2150 metres.
Chassys Best is a mare that had very ordinary form prior to landing in his care three weeks ago but she delivered a performance that was more akin to a horse that had won its past three.
Hillier allowed Chassys Best to ease off the gate from barrier five and settle a clear last.
The mare was still last with 600 metres to go but after securing cover three-wide down
the back stretch she peeled even wider at the top of the straight and rattled home to score a very impressive win over Anilada with cats And Dogs third.
“I’ve only had this mare three weeks. I took her home from the Spreyton meeting and I’ve just changed a couple of little things but haven’t done a whole lot with her gear,”
Hillier said.
“This was not a very strong field that she’s beaten but she did finish the race off really well and just on that factor alone you would expect her to win at least another one,” he said.
Chassys Best is part-owned and raced by trainer Brent Parish who opted to send the mare to Hillier after she had failed to run on at three consecutive outings.
The mare’s previous win was inHobartback in February and that was at bolter’s odds.
