BYMARJAC added another line to the impressive CV of top-producing broodmare Barrington Lass when the five-year-old gelding scored an impressive win in Launceston last Sunday night.
The gelding, that is Barrington Lass’ last foal, outgunned a handy field in a C0 over 2200 metres leading throughout to score comfortably from Rykov Leis and Artombob.
Bymarjac was bred by the Rattray family at their Karalta Pacing Stables complex at Longford but he has been a resident at trainer Chester Bullock’s property at Riverside since August and for whom he has had three starts for a win, a second and a fourth.
Barrington Lass has been one of the Rattray family’s best broodmares with this latest winner giving her a national record, producing more individual winners than any other standardbred mare in Australia.
Barrington Lass has produced 15 individual winners from 17 foals to race and they have collectively won 170 races for $924,062 in stakes.
Her most successful offspring was Barrington Belle that won 33 and placed 25 times from 114 starts but she spent the latter part of her career in the US where she recorded a mile rate of 1m.51.6s over 1600m.
Barrington Lass’ first foal Bar Ron won 16 and placed 36 times but she also excelled at stud with her first foal Bar Ron Boy also going to the US where he clocked a rate of 1.51.8 and ended his racing career with 33 wins and 51 minor placings from 147 starts for $336,564 in stakes.
Bar Ron’s second foal Chip And Gale also raced successfully in the USA clocking a best mile rate of 1.52.6 winning 61 and placing 85 times from an incredible 300 starts.
Barrington Belle also produced Gorse Bush, a filly by Ticket To Heaven that has been Tasmania’s broodmare of the year many times.
Her most successful off-sporing being Beautide that remains one of the state’s best open class horses with his record of 20 wins and eight minor placings for stakes of $144,858 from 31 starts, testament to his ability.
