TRAINER Wayne Rattray was full of praise for the synthetic track at Spreyton after his handy pacer Babyitsu scored a tough win in a claimer yesterday.

Babyitsu had not won a race since returning from a NSW campaign last year but he took to the Tapeta surface like a duck to water.

It was a game win as driver John Walters had to use the six-year-old early to find the front and he then had to stave off determined challenges in the long home straight that stretches over 300 metres.

Babyitsu went on to score from Ulos (Nathan Ford) and Sky Tower (Dylan Ford).

Babyitsu was one of Tasmania’s better-performed juveniles when in the care of Neville Webberley.

The gelding has had 86 starts for 21 wins and 19 minor placings for career earnings of almost $165,000.
