PROMINENT harness racing trainer Adrian Duggan recently acquired his licence to train thoroughbreds and at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today he snared his first winner in that code.

Heartbreak Lass powered her way to victory in a strong class four race over Three Crowns that was attempting to notch a hat trick of wins.

It was only the mare’s second start for Duggan who only acquired his licence a month ago

Heartbreak Lass (Danbird-Capital Growth) settled midfield in the small field of six but looked to be under pressure when the leaders kicked clear at the top of the straight.

But when rider Shuji Amano called on the lightly raced six-year-old mare for the supreme effort she ran on strongly.

Three Crowns began her surge at the same time but on the line Heartbreak Lass enjoyed a head margin when they crossed the line with Merit Star a close-up third ahead of Spy Wears Prado.
