THOROUGHBRED trainer Stuart Gandy will saddle up five of his stable tenants at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday with consistent mare Geegees Martini rated his best winning chance.
Geegees Martini lines up in race seven, the Schweppes Class 2 Hcp over 1100 metres.
She scored an impressive win four starts back in a class one handicap over 1150 metres on the synthetic at Spreyton and she has since notched minor placings at her past three outings at the same venue, the latest a third in a strong class two handicap over 1350 metres on August 23 won by Chips.
The four-year-old mare has drawn barrier five in a field of 10 on Sunday and with the services of Victorian rider Jamie Bayliss she should get the run of the race.
Gandy also will saddle up Geegees Soprano in race four, the class one over 1200m, in which he is the highest rated (62) in a field of 14.
His evergreen sprinter-miler Jay Bee’s Gee Gee will tackle the benchmark 82 over 1100m that boasts only a field of six but it is a very open race.
In the last race on the eight-event card Gandy will saddle up O’Reillys Geegee and Deux Foix with O’Reillys Geegee coming off luckless minor placings that followed a first-up win on the Hobart circuit.
Deux Foix is resuming from a lengthy spell enforced through a leg injury but he has trialed well and is expected to go well fresh.
