over a year ago he was hoping for immediate success.

Fashion Label produced a couple of eye-catching performances early in her first preparation but she was unable to secure a win.

But the trainer was rewarded for his patience in Devonport on Sunday where Fashion Label scored a courageous win in a strong class one handicap over 1350 metres.

The five-year-old grey mare showed plenty of early speed to lead and when challenged strongly by Wakefield at the top of the home straight she dug deep when it counted and went on to score clearly from Wakefield with General Quest a close-up third.

Luttrell paid $3000 for the then three-year-old filly that had won a race at Edenhope but was put on the market when her owners were not prepared to run her around the country circuit with the hope of picking up a win here ands there.

“I bought her from trainer Darryl Dobson and she came to us with a bit of a reputation,” Luttrell said.

“She had developed a habit of throwing her head about badly and she used to get rid of the riders going onto the track and coming off the track.”

“That’s the reason she wears a brow band (fluffy band worn on her forehead).”

”But she has improved a lot, especially this preparation,” Luttrell said.

Fashion Label is owned and raced by Alison Dodge, Tracey Lindsay and the trainer’s wife Debbie Luttrell.
