TALENTED mare Snippetee Bee sent a warning that she will be a threat in the upcoming Newmarket Handicap with an effortless all-the-way win in the Gee Gee Horse Stud Goodwood Quality Handicap over 1100 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
Despite drawing a aide barrier the Charlie Goggin & Luella Meaburn-trained mare was too brilliant for a star-studded line-up.
She flew the gates and held a two length lead after travelling 200 metres and when in-form apprentice Ismail Toker asked her to let down in the home straight she forged clear and went on to score comfortably from Private Currency and the race favourite Havana Stash with Group 3 Bow Mistress winner Isibaeva a closing fourth.
It was an impressive performance by the winner but trainer Charlie Goggin said it was no surprise as she was well enough performed to warrant being one of the top two chances.
There also was a lot to like about the effort of runner-up Private Currency that showed enough to suggest he will be competitive in the Newmarket and the same can be said for Havana Stash that was caught three an d four-wide early and had to be eased and then ridden for luck that didn’t come until the race was over
Isibaeva also worked home well and she too will appreciate stepping up to the 1200m in the Newmarket to be run in Launceston on December 03.
