A cocktail party will be held in Hobart next month to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Piping Lane’s win of the 1972 Melbourne Cup.
The jockey who guided Piping Lane to victory in the 1972 Melbourne Cup, John Letts, will be special guest speaker.
The celebration will be held in the McGregor Room at the “Lenna” Hotel in Battery Point – 5.30 for 6.00pm on Friday 5th October 2012.

Piping lane’s Melbourne Cup also will be on display and be made available for photo opportunities.
Piping Lane was owned by the late Ray Trinder who also trained the gelding when he raced in Tasmania.
Representatives of the Trinder family will be on hand at the cocktail party to answer any questions relating to the former champion horse.
