LIGHTLY raced four-year-old mare Conviction made a big impact at the trials at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today with an effortless five-length win over 800 metres.
Conviction has not raced since March when seventh of 11 in a benchmark 62 over 1420m under lights in Launceston.
The mare has had only nine starts for a win and two minor placings with the victory coming in December last year defeating Tempestuous and Gee Gee’s Dash over 1200 metres on a slow 6 surface.
The David and Scott Brunton-trained mare was purchased for $33,000 at the Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale
She could not have trialed more impressively. She began well and rider David Fisher allowed her to free-wheel for the first 300 metres and then took hold to slows the tempo slightly.
The mare booted clear at the top of the home straight and was unpunished to the line.
The rider, David Fisher, has recently returned to Tasmania and he is expected to take rides at Tattersall’s Park on Sunday.
Look for Conviction when she resumes in a class one or similar event in the coming weeks.
