TALENTED Tasmanian jockey Michael Guthrie makes his long awaited return to race riding at Tapeta Park Spreyton on Sunday.
Guthrie has taken only one ride at the meeting aboard the David and Scott Brunton-trained Umanugget in a benchmark 62 race over 1650 metres.
Umanugget is handicapped to carry 60 kilograms but Guthrie might not need to carry much lead, if any, in the saddle bag.
Guthrie has been sidelined for three months with a lower back injury sustained in a trackwork incident at Seven Mile Beach in May.
Guthrie is a heavyweight rider and but he hopes to be back riding as low as 56.5kg by the end of November.
