Regio broke his maiden status over 1400 metres on a heavy track in Launceston last Sunday, much to the delight of punters who sent him out the $2.70 favourite.

With visiting Victorian jockey Lincoln “Cuppa” Coffee aboard, Regio settled just behind the speed set by Gee Gee Miss Bee and he always looked to be travelling like the winner.

Laduka slipped clear turning for home but when Coffee called on his charge to extend he quickly raced to Laduka and put the end result beyond doubt 1200 metres out.

Regio has had only eight starts and this time in her placed twice against good company before finally breaking through.

Blacker believes Regio has the makings of a handy stayer and that is the path he’ll take next preparation.
