IF talented three-year-old pacer No Spring Secrets lives up to the expectations of his trainer Steve Lukac he is destined to make it to open class.

At Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday night No Spring Secrets was on his best behaviour and delivered a superb performance to score an effortless win in the Ranvet Pace, a C0 event over 1609 metres.

No Spring Secrets (Nathan Ford) started from outside the second line and pushed through in the one-out line but as soon as the leader My Mate Nick dropped anchor Ford sent his charge scampering around the field to easily assume control.

From there on in it was a procession as the gelding went about setting a slick pace and ended up recording a sub two-minute mile rate of 1.59.7 that could have been much quicker had the driver so desired.

Lukac said No Spring Secrets has been his own worst enemy at times and that was proven in the Tasmanian Derby when he became fractious at the start and galloped to lose 60 metres, only to motor home to be beaten just under 20 metres.

“He is still a day to day proposition but he is getting better with age so if he continues to do what he did at this latest start then he could yet realise his full potential,” Lukac said.
