ONE of Tasmania’s most exciting young pups Keune will strut his stuff at UBET Park Hobart tonight in a grade five (Race 10) over 461 metres.
The Ted Medhurst-trained pup is unbeaten from two starts and his average winning margin so far is almost nine lengths.
Keune (Barcia Bale-Miss Roman Nose) won by almost 13 lengths on debut in a juvenile in Hobart and clocked 25.94 over 461 metres which was the best of the night and that an amazing feat for a pup having his first start in a race.
Medhurst took him to Devonport and while he only won by 4-3/4 lengths in a juvenile over 452 metres his time of 25.34 was close to the best of the meeting (25.25) and that was delivered in invitation grade.
Keune is from a great litter bred by Terry Penny from his former Tasmanian Oaks winner Miss Roman Nose.
Keune has drawn box one tonight and should he deliver the same gusto at the start as he has at his only two outings he should remain unbeaten.
The feature races on the program tonight are four heats of the Vets Medley series over 599 metres.
The Vets Medley series is staged over two rounds of heats over two distances (599m and 461m) with points allocated according to finishing positions in each heat.
A win earns 11 points with eight for second, six for third and four for fourth then reduces by one through to seventh with no points for last place.
The top eight point scorers after both rounds of heats will progress to a final over 599 metres in Hobart on May 21.
