A seven event program will be staged next Monday night at UBET Park by the Tasmanian Pacing Club. The first race of the evening is the Rassy Big Girl Pace for three year olds and older. The favourite in this race will be the well performed filly, Iden Makin Time. She put up a good performance last start finishing third, beaten only five metres by Last Flight In and Followthewind, both of which are very promising mares. Iden Makin Time has a second row draw but she should score from the last start placegetter, Major System. She will be driven by her trainer Paul Williams.
Aninchofhislife is resuming from a six month spell in the Buddy Pace. The six year old gelding’s last start was an impressive win over the well performed El Jay’s Magic at the UBET Racing Centre last November. Aninchofhislife will be having his 52nd start, and has recorded 10 wins and 18 placings. He will be driven by trainer Christian Salter. Other good chances in the race are the last start Devonport winner Hello Good Shanks, who will be driven by the state’s leading reinsman Gareth Rattray, and the polemaker Cool Wharton.
The Petey Two Year Old Pace has only a small field but includes one of the state’s most promising youngsters in Origin Cronk. The gelding has had four starts for three placings, The last was in the $20,000 final of the Sweepstakes where he was only a metre behind Hillview Jake. The race time for the 1609 metres was 1:57.8, which took 0.6 of a second off the state record for a juvenile. Origin Cronk is a son of the ill-fated Cardmaster Hanover, who died at Geoff Madden’s property at Cressy, half-way through his third season at stud in Tasmania. The state’s top juveniles in Hillview Jake and Chica Bella are also by him. Origin Cronk will be driven by Ricky Duggan, for trainer Phil Mascall.
