After four race meetings in six days including the Nationals in Hobart last Saturday afternoon nominations for the TOTE Racing Centre tonight were very light on which doesn’t help finding winners for punters.
The main race is a Grade Three and Pippi’s Gold trained at St. Leonards by Robin Grubb looks the one to beat on recent form. He has been placed behind three smart performers at Hobart and Launceston and is suited over the 515m. He is not the quickest beginner but should get all the favours from box one. Grubb is a relative newcomer to the sport and Pippi’s Gold is the first greyhound he has trained. The main dangers are Able Lade (Nicky Howard) and Buckle Up Gaye (Gary Johnson) which are both racing at their peak and should test the favourite.
Punters can get a flying start with the Keith Nichols trained Cosmic Lad in race one. He is coming off a brilliant win over 340m in Hobart at his last start and will relish the 278m trip.
The hardest race of the night is race five with all runners a chance of winning. Gold Challenge, a recent addition to the Beaconsfield kennel of Julie Bannon appeals as some greyhounds really enjoy a change of scenery. Daintree Lover (Gary Kaye) and Dasher Dooley (Maurie Strickland ) look hardest to beat.
