Chris Crook and Imogen Miller had their best day since forming a training partnership when they won three races in Launceston on Sunday.
They were successful with three-year-old filly Danzqui in the Carlton & United Breweries Maiden Plate, three-year-old gelding Tshahitsi in the Ron Evans Memorial Class 2 Handicap and four-year-old gelding Qui Samer in the Balmoral On York Class 1 Handicap.
Brendon McCoull rode all three horses and was particularly impressed with Tshahitsi.
But he warned that the three-year-old was still green and it would probably cost him races until he matures.
‘‘He would have been very competitive at his last start in the 3YO Classic except he got caught up between horses and he just won’t go with others around him,’’ McCoull said.
‘‘It helped drawing a wide barrier today because he was able to jump on the pace and clear the field.
‘‘Having blinkers on for the first time also helped.
‘‘He’s a very nice horse.’’
After leading clearly around the home turn, Tshahitsi got a little tired over the last 200m but held on beat Into The Wind by a neck with Village Green a distant third.
McCoull made it four wins for the day when he stormed home on John Blacker-trained favourite He’s Applz to win the Benchmark 82 Handicap.
