THOROUGHBRED trainer John Luttrell has lost his appeal against a six-month disqualification over a positive swab.

Luttrell was disqualified after Testa Gee Gee returned a positive swab to caffeine after winning a race in Launceston on February 18.

He was subsequently outed for six months from April 30 and in Launceston yesterday his appeal against penalty, at which he was represented by Greg Richardson QC, was rejected by the Tasmanian Racing Appeals Board.

Luttrell can re-apply for his licence at the expiration of his penalty from midnight October 30.
