THE Winter Stakes final over 720 metres at UBET Racing Centre in Launceston tonight might boast only a field of six but it hasn’t been denied quality.
Some of Tasmania’s best staying greyhounds will tackle the event including the Ted Medhurst-trained Lillycette that was impressive in w inning a free-for-all over the 720-mettre distance last week.
Lillycette is being aimed at the upcoming state heats of the National Distance Championship next month, as are most of the others in tonight’s race.
Lillycette will wear the blue vest tonight and she has a vacant box on her outside which will enhance her chances of gaining a clear path to the first turn.
Frosty’s Capable (2) was an impressive winner over 600 metres two starts back and has had two subsequent starts over the 720m with the latest a third to Lillycette last week so he should be capable of at least filling a place.
Midnight Bird (8) has good recent form of late so he warrants respect and the same can be said for Miss Somebody (6).
