WELL-BRED pup See Blue’s Girl staked her claim on the Division Four of the J G Nelson Cup series with a brilliant heat win in Launceston last night (Monday).
See Blue’s Girl clocked a sizzling 29.81 over the 515-metre trip to score by over 12 lengths from Wynburn Whisper and Fabulous Gem.
It was an outstanding effort and made amends for a surprise second at her previous start on the Launceston circuit.
The daughter of Magic Sprite-See Blue is trained at Dilston by Patrick Ryan.
It was her second win from only four starts and given her early speed she should be very competitive in this week’s final.
The remaining heat was won by the exciting Keune that began brilliantly from box six and once she crossed to the rail the end result was never in doubt.
Keune created quite an impression when she first started racing winning in slick times and with great authority but after she fell in a race at Devonport her confidence was dented.
Her trainer Ted Medhurst gave the talented bitch plenty of time to recover but on either side of winning a Breeders Classic heat she finished last when unable to lead.
But she was definitely back to her best at this latest outing and should she mirror the way she flew the lids in the final then she will be very hard to beat.
Keune stopped the clock at 25.84 which was only a length off that recorded by See Blue’s Girl.
