THE Invitation class race on today’s North West Greyhound Racing Club’s eleven event program should prove t be an exciting encounter.
Lucky Norris (box one) looms as the one to beat as he has won eight of his twenty Devonport starts and boasts a best winning time of 25.66.
Irinka Julia looms as one of the main dangers. She has missed a place only three times in her 31 Tasmanian starts and only twice from her sixteen outings on the Devonport circuit.
Her four wins on the track have all been in good times and she has a personal best of 25.62.
Pippi’s Gold’s best winning time of 25.50 is the fastest of all runners and he would need only to improve slightly on his last start effort that was a fast-closing second to Rewind in an invitation grade event last week.
Irinka Julia should lead as she has the capability of running faster early sections but Lucky Norris and Pippi’s Gold both have powerful finishes.
The opening event is a Grade 5 over 580 metres and the three widest drawn greyhounds look to have the best chances.
Canadian Bay was a close second to Just Casual last week while Riley Diary found plenty of trouble before finishing second to Lashing Lil and locally trained Buckle Up Gaye has been racing in stronger company and should she could find the lead early from box eight this bitch could be the one to run down.
