A FAMILY trifecta was one of the highlights of the greyhound meeting at UBET Park Hobart last night.
Michael Pearce prepared Deb’s Honour to win a grade five event over 340 metres with her kennel mate Fast Country running on to finish third while Michael’s father Johnny Pearce provided the runner-up Simply Dawn.
Deb’s Pride ($6.50) began well from box three to lead and she was never headed while Simply Dawn was doing her best work at the business end of the race and Fast Country also worked home well.
It also was a litter trifecta as all the placegetters are by El Galo from Country Dawn and bred in NSW by James Johnson.
It was Deb’s Honour’s second start in Tasmania. She arrived in the state from NSW with modest form that comprised a few minor placings and a maiden win from 17 starts.
Deb’s Honour (El Galo-Country Dawn) was backed in from $8 to start $6.50 while Simply Dawn was the second elect at $4 and understandably so given she went into the race on the back of eye-catching minor placings at her three previous outings in Tasmania.
