QUALITY young sprinter Local View is likely to start favourite to win next week’s Young Star Classic final following his impressive win in a heat of the series at UBET Park Hobart last night.
The Ted Medhurst-trained pup clocked the fastest time of the three heat winners covering the 461 metres in a handy 26.01 seconds.
Local View ($2.70) began well from box three to lead and once on the lure he sped clear and went on to score by 2-1/4 lengths from Belluci with the winner’s kennel mate and race favourite Keune ($2.60) two lengths away third.
Local View held a clear advantage over Sapphire Quest (rails), Wynburn Witness and Belluci as the field scurried to the top turn but when Local View slipped into overdrive he quickly put the end result beyond doubt.
Local View (Barcia Bale-Miss Roman Nose) has won half of his 16 starts and this latest victory was his third on the Hobart circuit from eight starts.
Keune again suffered interference but she rallied in the home straight to qualify for a berth in the final as one of the two fastest thirds.
The first two home in each of the three heats and the two fastest thirds progressed to next week’s final.
Local View is one of three from the same litter (Barcia Bale-Miss Roman Nose) to make it to the final with Keune and their sister Miss Stylist also doing enough to clinch a final’s berth.
