STAR Tasmanian middle distance greyhound Lillycette must overcome a bad box draw if she is to win the Middle Distance Championship over 600 metres at the UBET Racing Centre in Launceston tonight.
Lillycette has a tremendous record on the Launceston circuit winning 11 of her 17 starts on the tight circular track.
She easily won her heat last week from box four but tonight she is drawn awkwardly wearing the green vest and has two reasonably good beginners directly in her inside in Chandalar (5) and Bit Hot Rusty (4).
Her only saving grace is the dog on her outside Loch Leven is not usually a good beginner and is badly drawn in box seven.
Ruby Bailey lacks a bit in the class department but she is a good beginner that appreciates the rail so she gets her chance from box one.
Tricky Tails (3) is a noted slow beginner but he has a powerful finish and only needs luck in running midrace to make his presence felt at the business end of proceedings.
The Middle Distance Championship is race six on the 10-event card.
