AUSTRALIA’S best harness racing drivers will converge on Launceston tomorrow night for the Australian Driving Championships with the outcome of six of the nine races framed on the program to determine the nation’s top driver.
The line-up to contest the event is a who’s who of Australian harness racing with the best two drivers from each state to vie for the honour of Australian champion.
It is the first time Tasmania has hosted the ADC and for many of the drivers it will be their first look at the Launceston circuit.
Victoria’s representatives Gavin Lang and Greg Sugars are no strangers to Tasmania with Lang having won numerous feature races in the state over a long period with his career total of 5,578 wins making him clearly the best-performed of the 12 drivers taking part in the event.
Sugars is Victoria’s reigning premier driver and at 31 he has already notched over 2000 winners that includes multiple Group 1 races including this year’s Queensland Pacing Championship aboard Our Hi Jinx as a SA Cup aboard the great Smokin Up in 2012.
Check out Sunday’s race fields to see which horses these drivers will partner in the ADC.
