TEENAGER Blake Pursell celebrated his first winner as a trainer in Hobart last Thursday night when I’ve Got You scored impressively in a grade three over 461 metres.
I’ve Got You had been placed second at her previous two outings and took that form into the race.
Pursell, 19, has only been training for a few months and has only two dogs in work but he has been involved in the industry for many years.
His father Brendan left a successful career in harness racing to take up training greyhounds and that also opened the door for Blake to take an interest in the racing industry.
Blake had no interest in harness racing but he immediately bonded with greyhounds and he clearly has a future as a greyhound trainer.
“I’ve only got two dogs and that’s enough for me because I am a builder by trade and that’s what I intend to concentrate on full-time but I also enjoy being involved with the greyhounds,” Pursell said
