LONGFORD trainer John Blacker always banks on securing at least one winner on his home track on New Year’s Day and Livia’s Lite was responsible for delivering the goods today.

With in-form jockey Kim Moore in the saddle, Livia’s Lite came from last at the 600-metre mark to join the leaders on the homer turn and went on to score comfortably from Opening Line and Gee Gees Talk Fest.

“It’s always great to get a winner at this meeting and I thought Livia’s Lite was a god each-way bet given she’s trained on the track and her work leading up to this race was good,” Blacker said.

The opening race on the six-event card was won by the Leanne and Clinton Gaffney-trained Dehughes that led throughout to take out the Incitec Pivot colts and geldings maiden over 1400m.

Dehughes had shown speed at his previous start and support was strong with the gelding backed in from $16 to $8.
