THE dominance of exciting two-year-old filly Gee Gee Double Dee has been well documented in recent weeks with the Leon Wells-trained youngster keeping her unbeaten record from three starts intact in Launceston last week with an effortless win in the Alfa Bowl.

But another filly surfaced today that could give the new “Princess of the Tasmanian Turf” a run for her money when they meet.

The Charlie Goggin & Luella Meaburn-trained Strike For Victory delivered a very impressive trial win over 900 metres at UBET Park Hobart today.

Strike For Victory led in the trial of four and went on to score by nine lengths and clocked a time of 56.75 and she ran home her last 600 metres in a slick 34.77.

The filly was able to run times at both ends of the race and that she was strong on the line suggests she will handle stepping up to 1000 metres for her race debut at UBET Park on Sunday.

Strike For Victory is owned and raced by a syndicate put together by Prime Thoroughbreds director Joe O’Neill.

Strike For Victory, by Smart Missile from the Anabaa mare Reve de Victoire, has wonderful pedigree that is littered with black type.

Goggin said he is looking forward to Strike For Victory making her debut on Sunday.

Gee Gee Double Dee and Strike For Victory could clash for the first time in the $100,000 Elwick Stakes over 1100 metres on Hobart Cup day, February 08.
