WELL bred two-year-old filly Zada Princess made an impressive debut at Tapeta Park Spreyton today with an al-the-way win in the Shaw Contracting 2YO Maiden Plate over 1000 metres.

The Mark Ganderton-trained filly began brilliantly from the outside gate to lead comfortably but then steadied the pace to a modest tempo.

Zada Princess (Gonski-Pericardium) travelled well to the home turn and Maskiell called on her for the big effort she dashed clear and had over a length to spare on Wise Investment with the well-backed favourite Arenzano almost a length away third and just in advance of Lago Girl.

Zada Princes had been to the trials four times prior to today’s race and performed admirably each time she stepped out at Longford and on her home track at Devonport.

Arenzano settled just worse than midfield but when rider Anthony Darmanin gave her more rein she dashed quickly to the leaders nearing the home turn but then proceeded to hang badly and ended up finishing the race off down the outside fence.
