LAST start Devonport winner Bazanne looks set to make it back-to-back wins when the talented three-year-old filly takes on older horses in the Ticking Away Class 1 Handicap over 1200m.

The Barry Campbell-trained filly could not have been more impressive in winning a maiden on her home track at Tapeta Park Spreyton last Sunday week, defeating Wakefield and Asil Anom over 1150 metres.

There appears to be genuine speed in the race and provided rider Anthony Darmanin can get the run at the right time she should be to good for her rivals.

The interesting runner is 2YO filly Modo Vinco that is being thrown in a the deep end by trainer Gary White but he is a astute judge and this filly must be respected on the strength of her last-start win on this track.

Meanwhile North-West Coast trainer Andrew Moore will be the toast of Latrobe and further enhance his reputation as a quality horseman if his seven-year-old gelding National Trust can emerge triumphant at the TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight for what will be his first start for almost 18 months.

National Trust will line up as the top weight in the Free Beer BM78 Handicap over 1200m (race 7).

National Trust was one of the state’s most promising gallopers a few seasons back but injuries have plagued the gelding.

He won five from only 21 starts and he has been domiciled at four stables.

Moore has had the embattled gelded son of Savoire Vivre-Entally in his care for about 20 weeks and according to the trainer National Trust could win without surprising him.

More says the gelding’s trackwork has been excellent and he has shown no signs of favoring the leg in which he had an injured suspensory ligament.

Only a small field of five will contest the ace with the scratching of So Fast So Good and My Tourmaleen that was scratched late this morning
