BOOM Tasmania stallion Wordsmith has taken all before him since arriving at Paul and Elizabeth Geard’s GG Horse Stud.
His first three crops were restricted to only mares owned by the Geards and include Gee Gees Top Notch that was last season’s best two-year-old and this year’s star filly 2YO Gee Gee Double Dee as well as Devonport Cup winner Geegees Goldengirl that was last season’s best 3YO filly winning the Strutt Stakes and Tasmanian Oaks and won this year’s Devonport Cup.
But outside mares were sent to Wordsmith for the first time in 2014 and a few of those pairings will go through the ring at the 2016 Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale tomorrow.
One that has attracted a lot of attention with buyers who attended the sales complex today for a pre-sale viewing was Lot 25, a striking colt by Wordsmith from the well-performed mare Pharaoh’s Daughter on account of Brooklyn Park Stud at Evandale.
He has a robust conformation, is athletic and is extremely kind natured making him easy to handle and he is very attentive.
He is a half-brother to the highly promising Noblecourt (X Savoire Vivre) with the dam a three-quarter sister to Queen of Egypt and a half-sister to former Devonport Cup winner With Decorum that also won multiple races in Melbourne.
Another Wordsmith to be offered at the sale is Lot 79 who is a striking individual that has size, poise and is highly intelligent so the filly offered by Runnymede Stud should encourage spirited bidding when she strolls into the sale ring tomorrow.
Wordsmith’s other offerings are Lot 82 (a colt from Cambalara), Lot 17 (a colt from Nought) and Lot 66 which is a filly from former Tasmanian Oaks winner Wavishing that is small by well put together.
The sale will be held at the Inveresk Sales Complex in Launceston tomorrow (February 18) starting at noon.
