AAMI Hobart Cup winner Geegees Blackflash will have to cope with a wide barrier and a modern day weight carrying record of 60kgs if he is to win next Wednesdays AAMI Group 3 $225,000 Launceston Cup over 2400m.

The John Luttrell-trained gelding drew barrier nine at the official barrier draw held in the Brisbane Street Mall in Launceston today as part of a spectacular fashion show presented by the Launceston City Council in conjunction with the Tasmanian Turf Club.

Mornington Cup runner-up Sea Galleon was one of the best-served interstate invaders at the draw with Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten selecting the coveted inside barrier (0ne) for the Colin and Cindy Alderson-trained gelding that is regarded as the main danger to the race favourite Geegees Blackflash.

Hobart Cup placegetter Viking Hero, prepared at Flemington by Michael Moroney drew barrier eight in the field of 12 while third-place in the Hobart Cup Dream Flyer will start from gate six.
