STAR Tasmanian pacer Beautide failed in his attempt to win his second Miracle Mile when he faded to finish near the rear of the field at Menangle today.
Beautide faced the breeze outside of talented mare Arms of an Angel who set a slick first quarter but the Tasmanian was the first horse beaten 400 metres from home.
“The horse seems to have pulled up without a problem,” Rattray said.
“It was a very hectic pace and it was just a case of him not being able to face the breeze under those circumstances,” he said.
The Group 1 event worth $750,000 was won by boom four-year-old Have Faith In Me who powered home to grab reigning Inter Dominion champion Lennytheshark in the very last stride.
Have Faith In Me was backed last to start the $2.60 favourite with UBET while Beautide was a solid second-elect at $2.80 withy Lennytheshark at $3.10.
Talented mare Arms of an Angel was a distant third.
